Buying and selling stocks with the I Ching

Buying and selling stocks with the I Ching

There is but one basic rule for investing:

BUY LOW AND SELL HIGH

Applying this basic rule, the I CHING would advise the investor to:

BUY THE YIN AND SELL THE YANG

This is a basic rule that has made people wealthy throughout history.  And yet, even though it is a simple and a common sense concept, it is amazing to see how even the smarter and most seasoned of investors violate it.

In the picture below, much like a clock, the investor will find the two great YANG symbols, Heaven and Lake, going down from 12 to 3, and the two lower YIN symbols, Fire and Thunder, going down from 3 to 6.  The investor will also find the two greater YIN symbols, Earth and Mountain, going up from 6 to 9, and the two lower YANG symbols, Water and Wind, going up from 9 to 12.

To put it more accurately, the I CHING would advise the investor to:

Buy YIN – greater YIN, Earth and Mountain, and lesser YIN, Fire and Thunder, if it goes on its way to YANG, especially if it goes to Heaven or Lake.  And

Sell YANG – greater YANG, Heaven and Lake, and lesser YANG, Water and Wind if it goes on its way to YIN, especially if it goes to Hearth or Mountain.

BUYING

The basic rule for buying is: buy the YANG or the YIN if it is on its way to Heaven.  This means that every time the investor gets a reading of a YANG or YIN (see list) Hexagram that changes to a YANG Hexagram it is a positive investment.  The investment gets even better if the change is specifically to Heaven or to Lake.

SELLING

The basic rule for selling is: sell the YANG or the YIN if it is on its way to Earth.  This means that every time the investor gets a reading of a YANG or a YIN (see list) Hexagram that changes to a YIN Hexagram it is a negative investment.  The investment gets even worst if the change is specifically to Earth or Mountain.
